Jacob behind the plate - Coming down!
The 2nd game of the tournament for the Angels was held last night under the lights in Plano. The Angels were the last seed, facing off against the 2nd seeded USA all-stars. This was the best game of the season. The first two innings went by quickly as both teams went down 1-2-3. Both teams made some great plays in the field. It was fun to watch. the Angels scored their first run in the 3rd winning. Jacob was at the plate with a runner on 3rd. He slammed a double to he gap in left field earning an RBI and putting the Angels up 1-0. The team added two more runs in the 4th and 5th innings. The pitching and defense for the Angels was OUTSTANDING! Holding one of the best teams in the league without a run for 6 innings. Team USA did score in the bottom of the 6th. They loaded the bases and with two outs, they hot a deep fly ball, the Angels CF had a tough play and just missed catching the ball. 3 runs scored and it was a tie ball game. Both teams went down 1-2-3 to finish the 7th. This is the first time we had seen a game go the distance. The game would be decided with a sudden death playoff. Each team would hit with 2 outs and a runner on 2nd until someone scored the winning run. Team USA was the home team and in the bottom of the 9th, won the game with a single and a runner on 3rd.
This was a fantastic game! Our boys played with heart and sportsmanship. It was awesome. Jacob went 2-4 the last two games with 3 RBI. We think he found his hitting stroke. The year is over until Fall ball starts. It is to HOT to play in the summer. Way to go ANGELS!
